OpenBSD Article Published by Linux Magazine

I am glad to introduce “Free Cousin”, a Linux Magazine article published in issue #253. It explains some of the characteristics that make OpenBSD an unique Operating System.

OpenBSD is a free, open source operating with deep roots in the Unix tradition. It has a reputation for code correctness and secure design. Since it is POSIX friendly system, OpenBSD will be easy to pick up by dedicated Linux users.

The userspace tools that can be ran on OpenBSD are either the same ones that can be ran on a regular Linux distribution, or very similar. OpenBSD, however, ships with some goodies developed at home, such as its own web server. Its kernel also has some outstanding features which make it easy for programmers to place process within sandboxes.
